APOLLO
Apollo reservation system was developed by United Airlines in 1976, it was then acquired by Galileo International Inc. in 1997 and now it is owned by Travel Port as of December 2006. This system holds information on all airlines in a single database and also allows a single booking record to be created. This system is an advanced technology that can provide any travel agency with various features and will inevitably increase revenue, reduce labor and improve all round efficiency. World Span is a technology company based in Atlanta that specializes in providing reservations systems in the travel industry. The primary system software that World span provide travel agencies with, is the Global Distribution System (GDS). SABRE
Sabre was developed for American Airlines in the 1950s when the president of American Airlines, C.R. Smith and a sales representative from IBM, R.Blair Smith joined forces. They created the first ever real time business application which produced automated reservations instead of the handwritten passenger reservations. This revolutionary invention changed the travel industry and today is still the most popular and widely used reservation system used in the US.
